KawiSafi Ventures invests US$2 million in Orb Energy's Nairobi-based solar business

KawiSafi Ventures, created by Acumen, has invested US$2 million of equity in Orb Energy's Africa business to support its project pipeline in Kenya and East Africa. Orb has installed close to 15MW of rooftop solar in East Africa for more than 60 commercial and industrial customers. KawiSafi's second fund counts the Green Climate Fund among its anchor investors.

Why it matters

It adds equity to the commercial solar market serving East African manufacturers, agro-processors and hospitals.
