Rwanda's Capital Market Authority brings in new corporate governance regulations
New capital market corporate governance regulations, replacing the 2012 code, took effect on 2 October 2026. The chair and CEO roles must be separate, boards of covered companies must have 7 to 11 directors, and a director may sit on no more than three listed company boards. Annual reports must include sustainability information, whistleblowing details and complaint statistics.
Why it matters
Listed, state-owned and other covered companies in Rwanda will need to review board structures and disclosures against the new rules.
