Fine Spinners Uganda invests US$5 million in new textile machinery and targets DRC, Zambia and Ethiopia

Fine Spinners Uganda Limited, an integrated textile manufacturer based in Bugolobi, is investing US$5 million in new textile machinery, funded entirely from shareholder equity and retained earnings. The investment is expected to raise production capacity by up to 40 per cent. The company has named the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Ethiopia as its next African markets.

Why it matters

It is a privately funded example of an East African manufacturer scaling up to sell finished textiles across African markets without grants or concessional loans.
