Tunisia records more than 400 trade operations under the AfCFTA

Tunisia's Trade Minister Samir Abid says more than 400 export and import operations have been carried out under the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement, according to TAP. The figure was reported as the AfCFTA Secretariat ran an SME support programme for North Africa in Tunis from 6 to 9 October 2026. Tunisia issued its first AfCFTA certificate of origin in May 2023.

Why it matters

It gives an early measure of how North African exporters are using AfCFTA preferences, alongside the rules of origin and logistics hurdles that SMEs still face.
