Harare hosts Africa Skills Week 2026 on turning training into jobs and industrial growth
Africa Skills Week 2026 ran in Harare from 12 to 16 October, bringing together policymakers, employers, training institutions and young people. The week focused on linking vocational training to employment, business creation and industrial value, and is tied to the African Union's Continental TVET Strategy 2025 to 2034. ILO data cited shows 35 in every 1,000 young people in 35 African countries take part in apprenticeships or internships.
Why it matters
Employers are being asked to take a larger role in shaping vocational training, which affects how companies across the continent source skilled staff.
