Senegal's Swami Agri issues a XOF 30 billion debut green bond
Senegalese producer Swami Agri issued a five-year XOF 30 billion (US$52.2 million) green bond guaranteed by FAGACE and arranged by IMPAXIS Securities. Cygnum Capital's African Local Currency Bond Fund invested XOF 4 billion (US$7.0 million). Proceeds will fund 16.7 MW of solar generation and 62,500 tonnes of solar-powered cold storage.
Why it matters
Local-currency bond funding gives agricultural businesses longer-term finance without exposure to foreign exchange risk.
