Mozambique reaffirms its sovereign guarantee to Mozambique LNG financiers

Mozambique's Council of Ministers, meeting on 20 October, reaffirmed the sovereign guarantee first issued in 2019 to creditors of the TotalEnergies-operated Mozambique LNG project in Cabo Delgado. The government values the two-train project, with planned capacity of about 12.9 million tonnes a year, at about $20 billion, and first production is targeted for 2029. TotalEnergies announced a full restart in January 2026.

Why it matters
