Cameroon and the World Bank Group launch the AgriConnect Compact
The compact targets eight value chains: maize, rice, cassava, oil palm, cocoa, soybeans, dairy, and fisheries and aquaculture. It aims to attract private investment, raise productivity and reduce food imports. The AfDB, EU, AFD, IFAD and JICA are named as development partners. The food sector contributes about 17% of GDP and employs 42% of the workforce.
Why it matters
A coordinated programme with several lenders gives agribusiness investors a clearer list of priority value chains and policy reforms in Cameroon.
