Mozambique plans to invest about $235 million to adapt its health system to climate change
Health Minister Ussene Isse announced the plan at the opening of the Third Conference on the Impact of Climate Change on Health in Maputo. The investment is part of a roadmap to make the National Health System more resilient, and aims to prevent an estimated 30,000 deaths. Cyclones, floods and droughts have repeatedly disrupted health services.
Why it matters
Climate-resilient health infrastructure is becoming a funded priority in exposed countries, creating openings for builders, equipment suppliers and climate finance.
