Ghana signs a $270 million poultry investment agreement with Agrium Capital in London
Ghana's 24-Hour Economy Secretariat signed the agreement with UK agrifood investor Agrium Capital, building on Heads of Terms agreed in August. The project covers feed, breeding, hatcheries, farming, processing and cold storage. Ghana imports about 270,000 tonnes of chicken a year. Partner shares, location and whether the $270 million is binding financing have not been published.
Why it matters
An integrated poultry chain would target a large import bill, but investors should watch for the final shareholders' agreement and confirmed funding.
