The Gambia signs a waste management concession with Ghana's Zoomlion
The Government of The Gambia and Zoomlion Gambia Integrated Waste Solutions, part of Ghana's Jospong Group, signed an Integrated Waste Management Project concession at State House in Banjul on 28 October. In the first phase Zoomlion will finance, design and build a mechanical biological treatment plant and transfer stations, and run municipal waste collection. No investment figure was given.
Why it matters
A Ghanaian company exporting its waste model to a neighbour, with a public-private structure other cities may copy.
