OPay withdraws its $304 million New York IPO after pricing

OPay priced 16 million shares at $19, the low end of its $19 to $21 range, to raise $304 million on the New York Stock Exchange at a valuation of about $4 billion. Before trading began, the company and its underwriters agreed to end the offering, citing a regulatory inquiry in an unnamed foreign jurisdiction. OPay said the inquiry does not reflect its business performance or financial condition.

Why it matters

OPay is a leading Nigerian fintech, and the outcome will be watched by other African companies weighing international listings.
