OCI shareholders approve the combination with Orascom Construction

OCI shareholders approved the combination with Orascom Construction at an extraordinary general meeting in Amsterdam on 30 October, with 99.85% of votes cast in favour. OCI shareholders will receive 0.4634 Orascom Construction shares for each OCI share, and Orascom will issue 97.2 million new shares. Orascom said on 1 November it expects to complete the deal in December, with listing of the new shares in Abu Dhabi and Egypt expected on 24 November.

Why it matters

Creates a larger Egyptian-led construction and infrastructure group listed in Cairo and Abu Dhabi.
