Affluent South Africans gave about R5.8 billion to good causes in 2025
Nedbank Private Wealth's Giving Report finds that affluent South Africans gave about R5.8 billion in cash and goods in 2025, about R2.9 billion of it in cash, and volunteered 3.1 million hours. 86% gave money, goods or time. The survey was based on 300 one-on-one interviews held between November 2025 and March 2026; women made up 55% of donors.
Why it matters
Private giving at this scale is a source of funding that charities and social enterprises in South Africa can plan around.
