Aspen sells European rights to Ovestin to Ennogen for €197 million

Aspen Pharmacare told the JSE on 2 November that it has agreed to sell the European rights to Ovestin, a menopause medicine, to Ennogen Healthcare International for €197 million, plus €4 million for existing stock. Ovestin brought in about R756 million in revenue and R238 million in profit after tax in Aspen's 2026 financial year. Aspen expects a profit of about R2 billion on the sale.

Why it matters

Aspen is turning mature European brands into cash, which shapes how much it can put into its manufacturing in South Africa.
