The United States will remove South Africa and Rwanda from AGOA from 1 January 2027
The US administration has notified Congress that South Africa and Rwanda will lose their benefits under the African Growth and Opportunity Act from 1 January 2027, after a review found that both failed its eligibility requirements.
Why it matters
Exporters in both countries who rely on duty-free access to the US have under two months to plan for tariffs or new markets.
