Devki Group has committed more than Sh200 billion to cement and steel over five years
Kenyan industrialist Narendra Raval's Devki Group has committed more than Sh200 billion (about $1.5 billion) to cement and steel plants over the past five years. The largest project is a Sh70 billion cement and clinker plant at Ngaaie in Kitui County, where President Ruto led the groundbreaking on 27 October; it is expected to operate from mid-2027 and create 4,000 jobs. The group also lists a Sh45 billion clinker factory in West Pokot and a $500 million steel plant in Tororo, Uganda.
Why it matters
Kenya's cement and clinker capacity is being built at home, which matters for contractors' input costs and for suppliers around Kitui and West Pokot.
