Germany commits a €50 million grant to Uganda for water, electricity and agribusiness
Germany committed €50 million to Uganda: €30 million in Financial Cooperation and €20 million in Technical Cooperation. Of the total, €35 million goes to water and electricity, including €18 million for electrification in West Nile, €10 million to agribusiness and local economies and €5 million to refugee-hosting communities. The funds will be delivered through GIZ and KfW.
Why it matters
Grant funding for power and water in underserved regions such as West Nile lowers the cost of the infrastructure that agribusiness needs in order to grow.
