Helium Health wins a $2.5 million Google.org grant for AI in maternal care
Nigeria's Helium Health has secured a $2.5 million grant from Google.org, the only Nigerian organisation among 15 recipients of the $30 million Google.org Impact Challenge: AI for Government Innovation. Its HeliumMum programme aims to reach an additional 1.9 million women over three years in Lagos, Delta, Kano and Oyo states, with Lagos as the launchpad.
Why it matters
Nigeria accounts for nearly three in every ten maternal deaths globally, so tools that help primary clinics spot risk early matter.
