Egypt's annual inflation eases to 12% in October

Egypt's annual headline inflation fell to 12% in October 2026 from 12.8% in September, according to CAPMAS, with monthly prices up 0.6%. Food and beverage prices rose 7.5% on the year, while housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel rose 24.1% and transport 22.3%.

Why it matters

Inflation is the figure the Central Bank of Egypt weighs most at each rate decision, and October moved it the right way.
