Ghana and IMF staff reach agreement on the first review of the Policy Coordination Instrument

IMF staff and Ghana reached staff-level agreement on 5 November 2026 on the first review of Ghana's 36-month Policy Coordination Instrument, which brings no new lending. The mission, led by Ruben Atoyan, worked in Accra from 22 October to 4 November. Approval by IMF management and the Executive Board is still required.

Why it matters

A positive review supports Ghana's standing with investors after it closed its US$3 billion loan programme in July.
