Kenya's private sector grows in October for the first time in eight months
The Stanbic Bank Kenya PMI, compiled by S&P Global, rose to 52.5 in October from 51.3 in September, the strongest reading this year. About 31 per cent of the roughly 400 firms surveyed reported higher output, against 23 per cent reporting a decline. The share of firms expecting higher activity over the next 12 months rose to 51 per cent from 31 per cent.
Why it matters
Firmer business activity comes as inflation rose to 7.3 per cent in October, so costs remain a constraint.
