Tanzania names Jundin Holding as the investor for a gas-powered fertiliser plant in Mtwara

Tanzania's Minister for Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga, told Parliament the government has secured an investor, Jundin Holding Limited, which plans a natural gas-powered fertiliser plant on a 150-acre site in Mayanga Ward, Mtwara District. The minister gave no construction timetable, capacity or investment value.

Why it matters

Using Tanzania's own gas to make fertiliser would cut import bills for farmers across the region.
